Easy to use and to integrate in the productive line, atmospheric plasma treatment of flexible substrates can be applied in multiple industrial sectors, such as packaging, medical, textile, alternative energies, electronic industries.

Surface treatment is an indispensable process for packaging manufacturing. Plasma action produces an increment of extruded plastic film polarity in many materials like polypropylene, polyethylene and polyethylene-terephthalate, which are naturally non-polar, besides coupled or recycled materials. An increased polarity is mandatory for some subsequent process, like printing or metallization. Atmospheric plasma technology can be distinguished by corona treatment by higher efficiency and higher time durability of the conferred properties.
It is possible to integrate easily plasma treatment with the deposition of nano-sized coating, which allows functionalizing flexible surfaces, giving innovative properties to the product.
The process is extremely flexible, regarding both the type of substrate and the type of coating applied. Thanks to plasma treatment, it is possible to obtain optimal results by using nano-sized coating, so saving raw materials, water, time and energy required for drying processes. The added properties can be multiple, like for example gas barrier, anti-fog and different releasing properties.
Equipment performing these processes work at ambient pressure and allows competitive high speed of hundreds meter per minute.
